BASRA, IRAQ and DUBAI, U.A.E -- (September 4th, 2013): Aggreko, the world leader in the provision of temporary power and temperature control services has recently installed a turnkey power solution for ‘Iraq Energy City', Iraq's most advanced Oil Field Community, developed and operating in Basrah, Iraq and the Southern Iraq Headquarters for contractors and International Oil Companies.
Aggreko was awarded the contract by the developer of Iraq Energy City, oil and gas services company Petronor to provide a centralised power solution for Iraq Energy City to meet its growing demand for stable and consistent electricity. Aggreko's 6 MW centralised power plant provides power for Phase 1, a 200,000 square meters site with accommodation, offices, workshops, warehouses and recreational facilities through an energy efficient set of transformers and distribution equipment connected by over 10 kilometres of cable. This delivers uninterrupted power for over 1,000 people who live and work within Iraq Energy City in the heart of southern Iraqi oil and gas fields.
"We chose Aggreko as we were confident they could provide stable and consistent power in the high desert temperatures of Southern Iraq. Aggreko is known for its expertise and experience in delivering solutions in harsh weather conditions, as well as for their commitment to quality. We wanted to provide our growing number of residents with safe, quiet and clean power generation and Aggreko helps us deliver our promises to our tenants" said Mr. Andres La Saga, Business Development Manager, Petronor.
"We are pleased to be working with the Petronor Group on this Project, playing a key role in providing vital life support to the people residing within the perimeter of Iraq Energy City. This venture demonstrates the commitment of both Petronor and Aggreko to provide excellent services in challenging conditions", said Patrick Boerman, Area General Manager Iraq and Major Projects for Aggreko in the Middle East region.
