Petronor is responsible for the development and deployment of the first Mobile Collaboration Center (MCC) to Iraq. The MCC is an essential element of Safe Fields™, a service Petronor is introducing that has been specifically designed to overcome some of the challenges of operating in Iraq. The service employs the latest technology to increase operational efficiency and reduce risks and liabilities.
The MCC is a self-contained, standalone unit designed for harsh environments. These systems deliver real-time two-way video and audio from a camera in the field to clients’ video conferencing rooms. The cameras are linked wirelessly to the MCC, and are mobile up to a maximum range of up to 30 km from the unit. The camera is certified for usage in Zone II environments, and can send both video and high resolution still pictures. An auto-deploy satellite system is included with the MCC and ensures that the Safe Fields™ service can be deployed to virtually any location on the planet in a short period of time.
The MCC comes in two standard sizes, a highly mobile 10’ version and a 20’ version with a meeting room for six to eight people. The client can communicate directly with the Petronor camera operator and see what the operator is seeing, talk with the operator over the live two-way audio, and give instructions for specific onsite actions. The Safe Fields™ Service allows the client to monitor and direct operations in the most remote and difficult locations from their offices.
Using the Safe Fields™ Service allows the client to inspect sites and equipment, monitor installations, approve actions, deliver training, and provide technical support. The client can remotely monitor construction sites, technical installations and all forms of oil field operations. The sessions can be recorded for quality assurance and control and played back for more detailed review, or kept as historical records of equipment, events and the state of facilities.
Before the first bid round in 2009, Petronor conceptualized the idea of using high performance internal separator vessel technology (electrostatic) in a modular system to address problems in Iraq where the CPF/GOSPs have not been designed for three phase flow. Wells with high water cuts have been shut‐in to prevent water into the CPF. In addition, the CPFs are operating below capacity in order to handle the separation of produced water which is outside the design parameters of the facilities.
The designs are based on proven technology from the North Sea and has been adapted by several major oil companies in operations, mainly offshore. The concepts have been accepted by the MoO, and SOC evaluated the technology and was interested in the Petronor solution before the change of operators after the MoO bid rounds. The bulk water separation close to the wells might have a potential added benefit of providing water in the field for reinjection schemes. By putting the modular water knockout system between the CPF and the wells (current suggestion is at the manifolds) the client will be able to separate out the water down to cuts of <0.5% water.
The system is based on the use technology from our partners to enable the construction of compact skid separator that would be capable of handling up to 30,000 bfpd and up to 90% water cuts.
